In the Gap After Quitting, She Grew Herself Back First
In no hurry for the next job — first heal what the last one wore down.
Three weeks after quitting without a plan, her applications were vanishing into silence and panic was setting in: job boards by day, insomnia by night. Her mother called — first sentence: found anything yet? She hung up and stood on the balcony a long time. Then she booked here.
She chose the Balinese care for an almost childish reason: she wanted to smell a holiday. When the frangipani scent spread around her, the tears arrived before anything else — she realised she wasn't calm about the anxiety; the anxiety had simply been queuing behind everything, and crying had never made the schedule.
The therapist gave her no advice whatsoever — only made every movement steady and slow. Steadiness, it turned out, is contagious: the other person's rhythm was stable, and her breathing steadied to match. After the core passage she slept deeply, and woke to find one knot in the tangle in her head had loosened.
Before she left, the concierge said one thing: a fallow season isn't emptiness; it's the soil resting. She saved the sentence at the top of her phone's notes.
She started the new job a month later. The week before, she came once more — not to celebrate, but to close that chapter properly: thank you for not giving up on yourself.

All you have to say is: “I need to be looked after.”
We will take care of the rest.
